iTEAM presents its augmented reality demo at the Valencia Digital Summit

The Institute of Telecommunications and Multimedia Applications (iTEAM) of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) took part in the latest edition of the Valencia Digital Summit (VDS), within the UPV Innovaciónspace, where the university showcased the latest trends in research, development, and innovation (R&D&I).

During the event, iTEAM presented an augmented reality demonstration developed by the Mobile Communications Group (MCG), which attracted the attention of numerous visitors. Among them was Diana Morant, Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities, who tried the demo and highlighted the role of UPV and its institutes in driving technological innovation in Spain.

“This is a great example of Spain’s leadership and prominence in innovation, as well as of the strength of our business and university ecosystem,” stated the Minister during her visit to the UPV Innovación stand.

Visitors to the VDS were able to experience 3D holograms by taking a virtual tour of iTEAM’s Immersive Communications Laboratory. These holograms guided attendees through the different areas and technologies that make up the laboratory. The main goal of the demonstration was to allow participants to interact with three-dimensionally captured holograms of real people within an immersive environment, enabling them to observe the differences between receiving information from a human hologram and from textual information points within the same virtual space.

The stand also received the visit of Diana Morant, Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities; José Esteban Capilla, Rector of UPV; and Salvador Coll Arnau, Vice-Rector for Innovation and Knowledge Transfer.
